MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS
>>Commissioning of a Motor Mechanical Training Centre in the town of Uragasmanhandiya, with the generous support from the Canadian High Commission, in 1987,
>>In 1988 the British High Commission, and, in 1989, the Australian High Commission, assisted financially, to expand the activities of the organisation,
>>A building worth over Rs.10.0 million was constructed for Vocational Training with a grant from the Direct Help Organisation, and the DESWOS project of Germany,
>>Establishment of the following social service centres:
>>>>>>over 150 pre-schools and Sunday schools in most parts of the country,
>>>>>>also, the above pre schools to function as Community centres,
>>>>>>a play ground of 2 acres in the township of Elpitiya, with the assistance from >>>>>>the Australian High Commission,
>>>>>>established libraries in number of rural schools in most parts of the country,
>>>>>>organising of regular health camps for children, mothers and other people in >>>>>>need,
>>Developed and reconstructed over 80 village tanks for agricultural purposes situated in 5 districts of the country,

>>Large number of small wells for clean drinking water,
>>Provided disaster relief during times of utmost difficulties, (i.e., flood relief, drought relief, tsunami relief)

Constructed 2 concrete bridges in two villages where people had to use wooden rafts to cross two streams,

>>Provided completed houses, constructed toilets, distributed roofing and other building materials for large number of people in most parts of the country with the assistance from the government and other donors,
>>Obtained with the assistance of the Canadian High Commission a mobile water tank, a four wheeled tractor with the necessary tools and equipment and also an Ambulance for the use of the rural people in drought ridden areas,
>>Organising and conducting of culturally and socially oriented workshops in most parts of the country, with the prime objective of promoting and spreading peace and inter-communal harmony among the various cross sections of the community,
>>Distribution of over 250 peddle bicycles for the school children and rural youth for self-employment,
>>Established the following Residential Training Centres for novice Buddhist Monks and rural youth with the financial support from British and the Canadian High Commissions together with number of other foreign and local donors:
